Maithili's music journey began in 2011 when she appeared on a reality show called Little Champs, a television broadcast on Zee TV.where she was rejected. She subsequently gave auditions for many reality shows and was rejected six times in the process, even after reaching the top 20but that didn’t stop her from achieving her goals. She finally got selected as a contestant in colors TV Rising star. Although she had previously appeared on many local programs, it was through this reality show that she got recognition.
Maithili was born in a small town called Benipatti in the Bihar district of Madhubani on 25 July 2000. She's Pt's sister. Ramesh Thakur, a popular local musician himself, and a housewife, Bharti Thakur. When she was only 4 years old, she started learning music from her grandmother. She would often hear the singing of her grandfather and try to match her notes with those of her grandparents. Maithili got her school education from her home as far away from her place was the school up to the 5th grade.
