- Jhijhia is a prayer dance that originated in the Koshi region of Bihar and is performed during droughts when the land is dry and parched and there are no signs of clouds in the lifeless sky. Through the Jhijhia dance, the young girls offer their prayers to the King of Gods, Lord Indra.
- Jhumari Dance of Bihar is similar to Garva of Gujrat. Specialized to married women, it is a folk dance of Mithilanchal of Bihar. After the month of Ashwin (September-October) comes Kartik. The sky is crystal clear, there is no cloud, it is a full moon spreading milky rays all over. Maids in love go on dancing, singing and celebrating the turns of the season.
- Jat-Jatin is the most popular folk dance of North Bihar, especially in Mithila and Koshi region. It is performed by a pair of man and woman. Man goes to a far-off place to earn a livelihood. Jat-Jatin is a folk dance of the same emigrant husband accompanied by his spouse.
This painting is out of paintings from the first Mithila painting exhibition by Antiquecraft Private Limited with website partner MithilanchalGroup. This was an attempt to provide a platform for Madhubani Painting artists to showcase their talents. The exhibition was organised at Arpana Art Gallery, New Delhi in June 2016.
