This painting is from the series of “Festivals of Mithila” this painting cherishes the love between brother and sister.

It commences when birds start migrating from the Himalayas down towards the plains of India. It tells the story of Sama, a daughter of Krishna who had been falsely accused of wrongdoings. Her father punished her by turning her into a bird, but the love and sacrifice of her brother Chakeva eventually allowed her to regain human form.

With the evidence of colourful birds, celebrations of SAMA CHAKEWA are done. This festival is celebrated especially in Mithila, it represents the tradition of this land as well as the making of bird idols.

Girls make pairs of bird Sama-Chakeva and decorate them as per rituals.

In our painting, we pay attention to every minute detail and try to share the history of every event by geometrical art.
