This painting is out of paintings from the first Mithila painting exhibition by Antiquecraft Private Limited with website partner MithilanchalGroup. This was an attempt to provide a platform for Madhubani Painting artists to showcase their talents. The exhibition was organized at Arpana Art Gallery, New Delhi in June 2016.
This painting is from the series of “Festivals of Mithila” this painting is celebrated with reverence of Lord Vishnu.
Lord Vishnu had spent years without sleeping because of his duty to destroy evil and bless his devotees. The schedule harmed his sleeping cycle and resulted in him falling asleep almost suddenly, suddenly fall asleep for four months and wake up on this day. The day holds also great significance as it initiates the seasons of marriage, this day also marks the beginning of a period of joy and bliss in the lives of newly-married couples
In this painting, the artist shows how people celebrate Devotthan Ekadashi in Mithila by drawing Aripans and images of household objects along with the worship of Lord Vishnu.
